The longest-running folk festival in the country is fast approaching. Kicking off a fantastic week of events by the seaside with pre-festival concerts on Thurs 28th July with people’s poet Pam Ayres at 2.30pm, folk-rock legends Steeleye Span at 8pm and briny crew Port Isaac’s Fisherman’s Friends on Fri 29th July at 3pm.

The Festival kicks off properly on Friday 29th with an evening show with Folk Award winner, Scottish fiddle master John McCusker. Throughout the week it features an array of established talent (Sharon Shannon Band, Le Vent Du Nord, Show Of Hands, Oysters 3, Seth Lakeman, Martin Simpson & Dom Flemons, Kathryn Tickell, Shooglenifty, Jon Boden) and fast-rising stars (Lynched, The Rheingans Sisters, Anna and Elizabeth, Stick In The Wheel, Sam Kelly, Three Cane Whale) and hundreds more…. literally hundreds more! With over 700 events taking place in a variety of venues throughout the town up until 5th August, the event has a rich and diverse programme including concerts, roots dance parties, ceilidhs, folk dances, dance displays, Children’s Festival events, youth sessions, workshops (over 200), storytelling, traditional music events, theatre, informal sessions….the list goes on.
