The first is taking a look at recent research in the field of residential child care under the title In the Know. There is not much time to book, as it will take place on 12 November 2007.
In The Know
Monday 12th November 2007 – Ramada Hotel, Livingstone
This seminar will showcase recent research in residential child care. SIRCC is delighted to provide this opportunity for practitioners and researchers to share their knowledge and experiences. Delegates will be given the opportunity to discuss the implications for their practice that make a difference to the lives of looked after and accommodated young people. This seminar will also encourage practitioners to become more active in their own research interests.

The second conference is their Annual Conference, this time under the banner Sustaining Relationships – A Vital Residential Child Care Task. It will run from 12-13 June 2008, and the call for papers is now out.

Thursday 12th and Friday 13th June 2008 – Crieff Hydro, Perthshire
SIRCC is looking for contributors to the programme from both academic and practice backgrounds. The deadline for submissions isth.The selection process begins in December and decisions will be relayed in January 2008. Support is available from SIRCC if anyone is unsure about the process detailed on the website. We welcome interest from national and international speakers and workshop facilitators. 30 November 2007
Although designed to meet the needs of Scottish residential child care workers, the word is getting round that these are quality events where ideas can be picked up and contacts made, and there is a growing number of people from outside Scotland attending.
