What is the book about?
It is a practical book aimed at encouraging creative skills for children aged between 3 to 6 years. It has pages full of things to do and make, as well as quizzes and challenges to keep the children occupied. It is designed to complement the television programme of the same name.
The book is hard back and has colourful pages with lots of activities to carry out – mainly with an adult to help.
Who is it written for?
It is the sort of book that ‘grows’ with the child. Three-year-olds love to look at the pages and possibly try some of the activities but mainly prefer to watch what happens on television. As the children get older, their increasing independence prompts them to want to try things for themselves.
We gave a number of books to a local day nursery – Alpha Kindergarten in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire – to assist in the reviewing. The children enjoyed this book. The only disadvantage was that in a nursery there are more children than would be found in the average family, so therefore some small people did not like the idea of having to wait until they could have a turn!
