In This Issue: December 2009

We have carried on last month’s theme of Books for Children and Families, and in this issue there are articles by Valerie Jackson and Lynn Daley about story-telling as well as seven more Book Reviews, two of which have been written by their target readers, Eleanor Irvine and Liam John Ryan from Silcoates Junior School.

This month sees the final instalment of Adoption – A Mother’s Story. This five-part account has shown how miserable such processes can be if not handled properly, when it should be a positive experience for everyone involved.

Keith White has focused on resilience with a moving account of one person’s journey. There is another episode of A.J. Stone‘s book Beyond Caring as Aaron copes with life in care. Anne Butler has described the welcome given to Therapeutic Crisis Intervention at Fullerton House School.

Robert Fitzgerald points out the dangers to children in care posed by the World Wide Web. Robert Shaw has produced two Key Texts on secure accommodation. And the Editorial compliments Kevin Rudd on making an apology to the people coerced into migrating as children to Australia, but then raises other issues.
