This is the story of Dizzy, an Airedale terrier, who seems to be caught up in a domestic scene at his home. The family where he has been raised are doing things differently and he is left alone with the housekeeper. He isn’t happy with the new set up and being kept outside for so long so he runs away and the book relates his adventures.
The book aims to attract 6 to 8 year olds. The chapters allow for serialisation over a week or so as a bedtime story. The illustrations at the beginning of each chapter whet the appetite so that the child can’t wait to see what happens next.
At the same time as Dizzy has his adventures, his family is looking for him. There are some obvious twists and turns but the conclusion is happy.
Children will enjoy this book. The language is appropriate and easily understandable whilst challenging at the same time.
